Upload and Search PDFs

What You'll Learn

1. 1. Click on Datasources in the left sidebar
2. 2. Click the "Add Datasource" button
3. 3. The datasource creation wizard will open

1. 1. Select "PDF/File Upload" as your datasource type
2. 2. Click "Choose Files" or drag-and-drop PDFs into the upload area
3. 3. Select one or more PDF files from your computer
4. 4. Wait for all files to finish uploading

dataTamer offers several processing options to enhance your PDF search:

• •Extract Images: Enable to extract and analyze images embedded in your PDFs
• •Generate Summaries: Create AI-powered summaries to improve search relevance
• •Custom Embeddings: Choose a specific embedding model (optional)

After creating the datasource:

• •The datasource will appear with status "PROCESSING"
• •dataTamer extracts text, creates embeddings, and indexes your content
• •Processing time: usually 1-5 minutes per document
• •You'll receive a notification when processing is complete

Once processing is complete, create "tamed data" to make it searchable:

1. 1. Click on your PDF datasource in the list
2. 2. Click "Create Tamed Data"
3. 3. Give it a descriptive name (e.g., "Product Documentation")
4. 4. Click "Create"

1. 1. Go to Topics from the left sidebar
2. 2. Select the topic where you want to use these PDFs
3. 3. Click on "Datasources" tab
4. 4. Click "Add Datasource" and select your PDF tamed data

Now you're ready to search using natural language:

1. 1. Navigate to your topic's Chat interface
2. 2. Make sure your PDF tamed data is selected in the right panel
3. 3. Type a question like:
   • • "What are the key findings in the quarterly report?"
   • • "Summarize the contract terms and conditions"
   • • "Find all mentions of budget allocations"
4. 4. The AI will search your PDFs and provide relevant answers
